Background information
At an altitude of 850 meters and in a secluded location, the four-star superior Hotel Bergkristall in Oberstaufen delights as a unique retreat that combines Allgäu roots with contemporary design and unspoiled nature. Following extensive renovation and expansion, the family-run resort—now managed by the Lingg family in its third generation—has been welcoming guests since summer 2025 with the extended Kristall SPA, its own cosmetics line, and a two-story fitness area. As one of Bavaria’s top wellness destinations, the hotel impresses not only with its 3,700-square-meter wellness area but also with further highlights such as the outdoor infinity pool and a spacious event outdoor sauna overlooking the hotel’s own wildlife park and resident stag Hansi. Culinarily, Bergkristall spoils its guests with regional roots while avoiding the heaviness of traditional specialties. During the Genusszeiten, the head chef and his team prepare à-la-carte dishes daily, following the 80:20 principle—eating healthily by consciously avoiding sugar and white flour, yet never compromising on indulgence. Guests won’t miss a thing in terms of flavor. In spring and autumn, Bergkristall also offers “Schroth Cure” fasting retreats with gentle, vegan-alkaline cuisine.
